If you are not qualified to drive a sled dog team it’s time to remedy this situation, for traffic jams are the worst enemy of modern life in a big city. But this barking way of transportation will let you bypass the hours-long traffic jams.
The kennel «Snow Dogs», founded by the Semashkin family, gives you an opportunity to become qualified to drive a sled dog team. They will introduce you to their dogs, multiple winners of Bereginya race held annually in Kamchatka. It is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest one. In 2018 the length of the track was 2100km.
There is an ethnographic museum on the territory of the kennel. The natives of Kamchatka shall meet you according to all the rules of Koryak hospitality. They’ll tell you about their culture, entertain you with their native songs and dances, serve you some delicious food.
9:30 a.m. Departure from Petropavlovsk to the gathering point. Change to snowmobiles, way time — around 10 minutes.
10:15 a.m. Visiting the kennel. Ethnographic program in yaranga. Singing and dancing to Shaman’s drum, stories about Koryak’s culture, traditions and life, photoshoot in traditional costumes. Excursion around the kennel: meeting sledge dogs, feeding the deers.
12:00 p.m. Setting a sled dog team. Safety briefing and instructions on driving a sled. Start accompanied by the snowmobile.
1:00 p.m. Return to the kennel. Hot lunch in yaranga. Return to Petropavlovsk.
